Living Costs
The living costs in Sri Lanka is quite affordable in comparison to western countries such as Australia, England or USA. Average living costs for international students to cover costs of meals, travel and other essentials apart from accomdation is approximately USD 125 per month. This figure may vary depending on your indivigual requirements.

Currency
The currency used in Sri Lanka is known as Sri Lanka Ruppee, more commonly known as Rupees. Money exchange centres are located througout the country should  you wish to exchange your foreign currency to local currency. In addition ATMs across the island alows you to withdraw Rupees from your Master or Visa card togeather with AMEX facility offered at Nations Trust Bank outlets.

Language Used
Our primary and most widely used language is 'Sinhala', in certain parts of the country tamil is being used as well. Most Srilankans understand English and people are customed to use basic english for communication with tourist even in the most rural of places. In western province where the school is located in English is widely used and spoken and as such students will feel right at home with no communication barrier.

All instructions of Ground theory , flight training including text books and course material are in English and with most of our academic staff being from overseas students will not face any difficuly communicating.

Getting Around
Sri lankan has many modes of transpotation. Most commonly used is the Tuk tuk commonly known by locals as a 'Three Wheeler'. The tuk tuk drivers are friendly personal and you could find them in every corner of Sri Lanka.

Buses are available throuout the day and comes in Air Conditioned and Standard (Non Air Conditioned). The red buseses are goverment run buses known as CTB and the other buses are private buses. Located in a hub, Panadura has buses departing towards most of the major cities in Sri Lanka.

Train service is an adventure of its own, during your holidays plan a trip to central Sri Lanka through the tea estates to take you back to colonial times and be a part of the good old days.  For more information of Sri Lanka railway visit SLRW

During your holidays students shall plan to see some of the destinations we have to offer to you including:
  • Tea estates and scenic beauty of Nuwara Eliya
  • The scared Tooth relic of Lord Buddha in Kandy, if your visit in August you can plan to watch the Procession known as Kandy Perehara, an iconic display of religion, traddition and arts of Sri Lanka including Elephants
  • The scared Kataragama Devalaye (Lord Skanda) and Gana Devalaya (Lord Ganesh) kovil of Kataragama
  • The coatal area including Hikkaduwa, Mirrissa and Galle
  • The Eastern coastal of Trincomalee  and Arugam bay knwon for Surfing
  • Negambo for its tourist attractions
